When to install QIIME using MacQIIME (Complete)

If you are planning on running QIIME to perform OTU-picking on your local mac computer, then it is reccomended to use the MacQIIME installation steps. MacQIIME will install all the required external dependencies, which are needed for multiple steps during OTU picking.

When to install QIIME using Anaconda (Basic)

If you are only planning on running the analysis steps built within QIIME (Alpha diversity, Beta diversity and Taxonomic composition), then you can install QIIME through Anaconda, which will give the basic files required to plot and analyze the OTU table data.
